The Reproduction Process

Inkjet prints first seemed to have capture the art world’s attention in Europe about eight or so years ago. Inkjet output has become quite popular for artists in most mediums, including watercolor, charcoal, photography and more. Many artists simply take their work created by traditional means, have them scanned, and print them from an inkjet printer. I have created all of the D. Halstead Artworks inkjet series specifically for inkjet output and, in doing so, allow the less-than-perfect inkjet process to enhance every print.

D. Halstead Artworks inkjet prints are output on Strathmore acid-free papers, and Don believes the paper is an integral part of the design and chooses paper colors and tones based on his initial interpretation of each series. Below are swatches of some of the more common paper colors Don utilizes in designing his inkjet series.

Strathmore White

Strathmore Natural

Strathmore Mist Gray

Strathmore Smoke Gray

The Studio

The space I work in is vital to the creative energy that goes into the work. I work in my home, in a basement studio renovated to my specifications, all designed around my digital artwork.
